At James Baldwin, we believe students learn best through hands-on activities that build upon their interests and connect to their life experiences.  Students receive instruction in all strand areas of mathematics – number sense and computations, data analysis, geometry, measurement, algebra and probability. Teachers plan differentiated lessons and activities to best meet the needs of all students.  The focus is on understanding concepts as well as mastering facts and algorithms.   Our students are encouraged to solve problems in multiple ways which creates flexible thinking.  They play math games regularly to reinforce their learning.
